Two Prosecutors 

Two Prosecutors: Loznitsa, which is based on a novel by Soviet author and political prisoner Georgy Demidov and takes place in the Soviet Union in 1937, centers on the efforts of an idealistic prosecutor appointed by the government (Alexander Kuznetsov) to reveal the mistreatment of a dissident Bolshevik writer who has been imprisoned and subjected to torture without any proof of wrongdoing. The inexperienced attorney may be endangering himself by disclosing his own moral rectitude when he increasingly realizes that the man’s arrest was scarcely unusual under Stalin’s rule.
